„Anyag és a lélek határán” címmel nyílt kiállítás 2020. október 15-én Borkovics Péter Fereczy Noémi-díjas üvegművész alkotásaiból a Budapest Art Week programsorozat keretében. A kiállítás megtekinthető a hó végéig naponta 10 és 18 óra között a Kiskép Galériában, 1014 Budapest, Országház utca 8.

A kortárs magyar üvegművészet egyik legrangosabb képviselőjének, a Fort Wayne Museum of Art (USA/Michigan) és az International Exhibition of Glass Kanazawa (Japán) díjazottjának művei húsz éve szerepelnek külföldi kiállításokon, alkotásai megtalálhatól magán és közgyűjteményekben Japántól az Egyesült Államokig valamint Nyugat-Európában. Ritka alkalom, hogy itthon több művét egyszerre láthathassa a közönség.

„Gyerekkoromban órákig bámultam a patak vizét a kertünk alatt. Szerettem volna megfogni és hazavinni a víz tükrén szaladgáló fényeket, elvarázsolt a reflekciók végtelen változatossága. Nem sikerült se lefesteni, se lefotózni. Ma próbálom elkészíteni, mert az üveg folyadék, mellyel meg lehet állítani az időt. Megbabonázott és függővé váltam.”

A korai ifjúsága óta a matematika, fizika, a számítógépgramozás iránt komolyan érdeklődő, a kozmológiért lelkesedő művész számára a tudomány által feltárt a természetben előforduló szabályosságok adják a közös szellemi alapot alkotásainak elkészítéséhez.

„A geometrikus csíkos tömbjeim kívül egyszerű hasábok, belül történik a formai mozgalmasság. A középen lévő körök és négyzetek elforgatása az élő és folyton változó civilizáció és gondolkodás kavarodása.”- írja doktori dolgozatában.

„A sokat emlegetett ihlet egyfajta képzelet, sugallat, éteri hátszél, a gondolatok bölcsője. Leírhatatlan érzés, amikor valami „kijön” a kemencéből, egyedül vagyok ott jelen, ez egy intim pillanat. Ekkor lát napvilágot a többnapos munka vagy egy sejtés igazolása. Talán a születés a legmélyebb ideillő fogalom. A kemence szája nekem egy átjáró vagy kapu két világ között. Az egyik az anyagi, tapasztalati, a másik a gondolatunk éteri fellegei.”

“A fény az, amiről egy üveg szól. A fényt pedig a költészet hivatott megfogalmazni. Az üveghez kapcsolodó érzékelések elsősorban az ösztönös lényünkön keresztül a bensőnkre hatnak, mint az illatok a rovarok érzékszerveire.”

“A színek szépsége a fény spektrum öröme, színeivel nem versenghet semmilyen más anyag. A fénye – áttetszősége éteri magasságokba emeli.”

„Az üveg finom és törékeny, akár a félő gondolat. Ha mindig olyan tiszta és őszinte gondolataim lennének és maradéktalanul átadhatnám őket, nem lenne szükség az anyagi világ közvetítésére.”

Antigravity is what this exhibition is called where two ways of thinking meet in the most recent works of two glass artists, Bernadett Hegyvári and James Carcass. The works of the former is marked by geometric attitude, while the pieces of her husband are decidedly organic.

Bernadett HEGYVÁRI (1975) has finished her studies at the University of Craft and Design in Budapest in 1999. After spending 8 years in England she moved back to Hungary and started her hot glass studios with her husband in Tápiószecső. She participates continuously in international and national exhibitions.

In this exhibition she continues the „fragile everyday” series what she has extended the questions further to include what we see and how we see it.

“Although I work with glass, which is normally considered as a material of the applied arts, I create sculptures. Sculptures that are a cross between painting and three dimensional works, therefore putting them into a category is very difficult which is one of my aims. Not being one or the other creates a gentle tension which makes me curious. The game of up and down enhances the uncertainty and allows the viewer to understand the “picture” through the two versions.”

“I am inspired by the sharp light and the uncertain positioning of the elements on the 17th century dutch still life paintings. I like that certain elements are hardly seen whlist others are right ( literally) on the edge. I like this game of hide and seek. It questions the way we see things, the way we create meaning adn what we need to create meaning form what we see.. Light in these paintings is essential as it is for glass and so it is for me.”

James CARCASS (1965) finished his studies at the University of Sunderland Ceramics and glass in 1991. Works in his own hot glass and wood studios in Tápiószecső, Hungary. His works are present in galleries in Hungary and exhibitis and sells his glass and wood sculptures internationally.

These small sculptures of the Wabisabi series take the form of eternal symbols which capture the passage of time and the movement of the universe.

In the frame of an art residency program between Hungary and Finland two artists Pálma Babos and Raija Rastas met in Helsinki last summer, where they had an opportunity to make an exhibition together and started a dialog specifically what could be different and common in their artistic approach. They regularly followed their common discussion along a year and this time Budapest became the host for both them. Their new pieces are currently presented in the Kiskép Gallery the first time.

„From One to Another” – calls the invitation. Although they work with different materials both like to join geometrics and organic together, move lightness into darkness, complete natural with artificial and all with the intention to reach a strong contrasts in each of their objects.

Raija Rastas textile artist in Finland, member of the Artist Association of Vantaa, living and working in Seutula, a little village near Helsinki the capital of Finland. She works with sewing and embroidery techniques using materials like linen, cotton and silk yarns and fibres, and also many kind of findings from the nature and also from the city. „We have very beautiful nature in Seutula, I take photos everyday and find discoveries to my works. During last years we have seen how nature is changing in Finland like in the whole world, we suffer from very strong winds and storms, very dry and hot summers, also very rainy summers. Nature is so fragile.” What can we do? Do we shut or open our eyes? What is the right way to do? What are our steps? What kind of footprints we leave?

Babos Pálma  porcelain artist in Hungary, awarded with several prizes, the winner of the VII. Biennal of Ceramics in Vendell (Spain), living and working in the outskirt of Budapest, the capital. „My new series react on the environment that we are surrounded with, so it is linked with my former works: „The city and citizens”. The towers and the cities inspect the relations between the town and the human beings, reflect on the typical phenomena like the lifestyle of our current age. These new sculptures talk about the parallelly of the natural and the artificial environment in the same way as we are enclosed in the reality, where does not exist the untouched nature anymore. The participants of this story can be either observers or victims, as well as beneficiary depending on their positions or interest. Each sculptor includes a natural part and an artificial part. The way as I handle the porcelain material emphasizes the differences.

Exhibition of Dóra Varga glass artist 6-21. October 2018

Kiskep Gallery has represented Dóra Varga glass artist since 2014. Fused from rough glass frits (pate de verre), her sculptures, when touched lightly, procedure strange, melodic sounds. It did not take long for the artist, who is keen on experimenting and keeps an open mind towards other art, to start enhancing the message and substance of sculptures by adding connection to music and film. Her works bring visitors a halt, and encourage them to take an interactive path.

Sound spill, named after the exhibition’s central set of works, calls attention to processes that both pollute the environment and damage people. The work comes to life with help from the viewers: the sounds and noises that bring in mind the agony of the seas were prepared by sound artist Esteban de la Torre.

László Szlávics jr (1959) sculptor and medallist

For a long time, he was best known as an innovative medal artist. He has shown works on 400 occasions, in sixteen countries, and his outstanding accomplishment was frequently acknowledged with awards.

 

Over the past ten years his experiments have also encompassed small sculptors and larger statues, those of his works that are informed by a steam-punk influence bring in mind the kinetic art of Swiss-French sculptor Jean Tinguely. In their turn, the pseudo-machines he constructs from clockworks look at the relationship of time and man

Az Ars Sacra Fesztivál alkalmából láthatók Bátai Sándor grafikus művészkönyvei, melyek a közép-kelet-európai emberi sorsot idézik meg kiszolgáltatottságunk írott nyomaival. Születési- és halotti anyakönyvi kivonatok, házasságlevelek, igazolványok, bizonyítványok, igazolványképek, családi fotók, hátoldalukon kézjegyek, dátumok, személyes üzenetek, nemzedékek évtizedein át őrzött, papíron rögzült emlékek, személyes ereklyék, melyet az emlékezet kerekít történetté. A tárgyakon arctalanná válva groteszk módon jelenik meg mindnyájunk életének általános érvényű sorsváza.

2017. június 24-én 16:00 órától a Múzeumok éjszakája alkalmából ismét üzembe helyeztük a hordozható rézkarc-prést és meghívtuk galériánk művészeit, hogy avassák be a látogatókat a mesterség rejtelmeibe.
